Spen Valley artist 'delighted' to be invited to display her new work at Bingley Gallery exhibition
A Spen Valley artist is displaying her work at a new exhibition.
Josie Barraclough, a former pupil and artist-in-residence at Heckmondwike Grammar School, said she is “delighted” that her new mixed media work is on show at the Bingley Gallery until June 28.
Josie, who studied at Batley College of Art and Bretton Hall, prefers sketching and spends most of her time working in her Liversedge-based studio.
The former head of art at Bradford Grammar School inspired her students for nearly 20 years before leaving teaching to concentrate on her own work.

She describes herself as being “enthused by the vibrancy and fluidity seen in the work of David Hockney”, having been fortunate enough to visit his studio, along with her students.
Josie’s work draws inspiration from a diverse range of subjects including travel, landscape and the natural world.
The exhibition is open Thursday to Sunday, 10am until 5pm. For more information, the Bingley Gallery website.
