Overnight closures on the M1 and the M62

There are a number of planned overnight closures on the region’s motorways next week.

The M1 in Wakefield and sections of the M62 in West Yorkshire are affected.

The southbound stretch of the M1 will be closed overnight for three nights between junctions 39 and 40 in Wakefield from Friday, June 19.

The northbound exit slip will be closed overnight for four nights and junction 40 from Monday, June 15. The closures will take place between 8pm and 6am. Drivers will be able to follow clearly-signed diversion routes.

There will also be lane closures on the M62 from Chainbar to Tingley.

The eastbound side of the motorway, between junction 27 to junction 28, will be reduced to a single lane overnight on Thursday, June 18 between 8pm and 6am, for technology works.

The A1 at Ferrybridge is also scheduled for overnight work.

The northbound side of the motorway from Ferrybridge to Barnsdale Bar will be closed overnight for two nights, for resurfacing work, from Saturday, June 20.

The closures will take place between 8pm and 6am, and a clearly-signed diversion will be in place.

There will be also be roadworks on the M62 at junction 26, Bradford.

The slip roads and roundabout at the junction will be reduced to a single lane overnight for five nights, between 7pm and 6am, from Monday, June 15.

There will also be a 30mph speed limit in place until April 2016 while work takes place to add a third lane to the roundabout.

There are similar closures further along the M62 from Junction 22, Rishworth Moor, to Junction 24, Ainley Top.

The eastbound side of the motorway will be reduced to a single lane overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Wednesday, June 17 and Thursday, June 18 for roadmarkings and studs.
