More burst pipes in Mirfield and Dewsbury cause travel disruption

The morning rush hour was disrupted in Mirfield today (Monday) after another burst water pipe.

Yorkshire Water is repairing the burst pipe on the A644 Wakefield Road, east of Junction 25 M62 up to Cooper Bridge roundabout.

The company said some of its customers were without water completely and others were experiencing low water pressure after the pipe burst at around 7.21am.

It follows a leak at Shillbank Lane yesterday and two burst pipes last week that left thousands without service.

Bus operator Arriva Yorkshire said buses are being diverted in three areas after burst pipes closed roads.

Services 126/127 are diverting via Wakefield Road and Syke Lane, Earlsheaton after High Road was closed.

Service 253 is diverting via Back Knowle Road, Mirfield after the burst pipe closed Kitson Hill Road last week.

And the number 278 service is now diverting via Bradley Road and Huddersfield Road to Brighouse.after this morning’s burst pipe at Wakefield Road, Cooper Bridge.
