Climb a mountain? No sweat for champ Megan

Megan Rodd, of Dewsbury, was so touched by the great work Leeds Rugby Foundation does in the community, that she wanted to donate money for future projects.

The seven-year-old has raised more than £2,000 for the charity, which is run by her favourite sports team, Leeds Rhinos. And in August she even climbed 4,000ft to Ben Nevis, in Scotland, with mascot Ronnie the Rhino.

Now her mum Michelle Rodd has put her forward for the Reporter Series Champion Children award to be recognised for her fantastic efforts.

Mrs Rodd, 34, of Cliffe Street, said: “The Ben Nevis climb took nine hours in total and Megan never complained once. She has also climbed Pen-y-Ghent, and is now arranging a half marathon with someone from the RAF and also a bike ride. She doesn’t understand what a great job she is doing. To her she is just helping and it’s normal to raise such a large amount.”
