Ain't no walk long enough for young Megan

While most nine-year-olds spend time after school playing with their friends or enjoying extra-curricular activities, Megan Rodd gave up five of her evenings to walk 60 miles for charity.

Dewsbury-born Megan trekked from Leeds’ Headingley Stadium to the Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington.

And after a two day break, the fundraising youngster then climbed Mount Snowdon with her younger brother Kayden, five.

Proud mum Shell Rodd said: “Megan started raising money for charity when she was five. We went to a rugby game and she saw someone shaking buckets and asked me what they were doing.

“She said she wanted to start raising money to help people and since then she’s never stopped. Her challenges keep getting bigger.”

Megan, a pupil at St Ignatius school in Ossett, has also climbed Ben Nevis and hopes to cycle from Leeds to London next summer.

The inspirational Leeds Rhinos fan has raised more than £8,0000 for charities including the Teenager Cancer Trust, Leeds Rugby Foundation, and Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation.

The Wolves supported Kayden when he became ill whilst watching a match.

Mrs Rodd said: “The courage my little girl has got just absolutely blows my mind. She wants to do all she can to help anyone and everyone. She wanted to do Snowdon to finish on a high.”
