Midfielder Mark Lillis, who is now the academy manager at the Championship club, attended the ceremony only two hours after being discharged from hospital. Mr Lillis had been injured whilst playing for The Terriers.

The special guest of the evening turned up to present prizes to members of Battyeford Boys’ Club at their annual awards evening.

Nearly 40 members of the club were honoured with awards, including Michael O’Driscoll and Kevan Sangster, who were crowned All England Boys’ Club under 14 doubles champions.
