Late scores condemns Dewsbury Moor to defeat

Having conceded an early try, Moor played some enterprising rugby and appeared in control going into the final quarter.

Crosfields led thanks to an early converted try but James Samme looked to have hit back for Moor when he crossed between the posts only to have the effort disallowed.

Bradley Foster and Peter Robinson were at the hub of Moor’s best moves and James Eatherley crossed wide out. Jacob Flathers converted to level.

Danny Wardman, Simon Whiteley and Samme made telling runs before play was moved left and Bartley O’Brian sent winger Max Vernon in at the corner as Moor led 10-6 at half-time.

Jordan Foster, Peter Robinson and Phil Shotton coped with Crosfields attacks at the start of the second half, while Vernon intercepted a pass and raced 50 metres bore being hauled down.

Moor had the Warrington outfit on the back foot and a superb passing move involving Peter Robinson, Adie Moore, Cameron Bruce and Ash Boddy ended with Eatherley putting winger Flathers in at the corner.

Flathers landed the superb touchline conversion and Moor appeared well on course for victory, leading 16-6.

Crosfields refused to lie down and showed character to fight back and take the league points.

The home side scored three tries, two of which were converted and added a late penalty to leave Moor shellshocked.

Defeat leaves Moor sixth in the table and their next game is away to Gateshead Storm on July 4.

n Dewsbury Celtic led Stanley Rangers at half-time of their Division Two clash after tries from Tom Dransfield and Doug Foster, along with a Pat Foulstone conversion.

However, Stanley hit back after the break to win 20-10 with tries from Joel Marsh (two), Oliver Tobin and Lee Brickwood, with Danny Grice adding two goals.

Celtic are ninth in the table and travel to Underbank Rangers on Saturday.
