Howden Clough maintain their unbeaten start in eight-goal thriller

Howden Clough were made to work hard to maintain their unbeaten start to the season in the West Yorkshire League’s Division Two.

Despite Lennon Stainburn’s ninth minute goal they found themselves 2-1 down at half-time at Swillington Saints and the game remained competitive until the final whistle.

Thomas Ingham struck twice after the break and Andrew Griffiths also netted, but Howden had to settle for a point from thrilling 4-4 draw.

They lost top spot as a result, but with five wins and two draws so far they are only one point behind new leaders Wyke Wanderers Reserves.
