Teenager in critical condition after Tingley hit and run

A teenager is critically ill in Leeds General Infirmary after a hit and run incident in Tingley.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the 17-year-old man was injured at about 12.15am on Good Friday (March 29).

Southern Area Roads Policing officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident on the A653 Dewsbury Road near house numbers 1135 to 1145.

The vehicle, believed to be a small silver coloured car, possibly a Toyota, collided with the teenager, from Middleton, on the near side of the Dewsbury bound carriageway.

The driver initially stopped but then made off, leaving the victim with serious injuries.

The car was heading from Leeds towards Dewsbury along the main A653 and may have front end damage as a result of the incident.
