Summer festival fun at Dewsbury’s Sue Ryder shop

The Sue Ryder shop on Railway Street, Dewsbury, is hosting the two-day event to mark the charity’s diamond anniversary.

It will include an arts and crafts corner, a gardeners’ corner, a bouncy castle, fairground rides, face painting and a tombola.

Sue Ryder will also be giving away free apples as part of a special New York Marathon promotion, but for those with a sweeter tooth, there will be an ice cream van and other refreshments available.

Money raised from the event will go towards helping Sue Ryder provide care for people with life-changing illnesses across Yorkshire. The charity runs two hospices, a neurological care centre and a community service in the region, and £9m needs to be raised each year to keep these services open.

Zaz Stephenson, the manager of the shop, said: “We’re really excited about the summer fun weekend and we can’t wait to welcome the Dewsbury community down to our store. Since we opened here at the end of January we’ve been really pleased with the support we’ve received and this is just a little way of giving something back to the people of Dewsbury, who have really got behind us.”

The event takes place on Saturday July 13 and Sunday July 14, from 11am until 4pm on both days.
