The organisation, founded in 1952, provides facilities for adults to help them cope with learning issues.

They have invited the Batley Amateur Thespian Society (BATS) to perform an evening of entertainment for its members and friends of Mencap.

The society will be performing to thank Mencap for providing them with rehearsal and storage space as they prepare for their next show in November.

As well as having BATS perform, the society is asking anyone who has learning difficulties to come along to find out about the organisation.

Jennette Brooks, of Batley and District Mencap, said: “We welcome anyone in Kirklees with learning difficulties to come and join in the fun of the production.”

Staff from Batley and District Mencap will also be available to answer any questions.

Batley Mencap also hosts swimming classes for its members at Batley Baths and Recreation Centre.

The sessions take place every Tuesday, from 8pm.
