Heckmondwike man arrested after foiled kidnap in Leeds

A MAN from Heckmondwike has been arrested after an attempt to abduct a child was foiled by a passer-by.

The 30 year old man was arrested by police in Middleton, Leeds, after allegedly trying to abduct the 12-year-old girl yesterday (Monday) at 2.30pm.

Police said he was attempting to drag the girl towards a silver car in Acre Road, Middleton, when a passer by shouted at him, telling him to release the girl.

Officers are now looking for the passer-by who is a key witness.

The man is still in police custody where he is also being questioned about other similar incidents reported to police.
