Gomersal will have all the fun of May Day fair

A special fair will take place on Bank Holiday Monday to celebrate the age-old tradition of May day.

The ever popular Little Gomersal May Day fair will be held at The Wheatsheaf Inn, Little Gomersal, on Bank Holiday Monday from 1pm-4pm.

The fair will have a wide variety of stalls including plants and produce, face painting, tombola, bric-a-brac and a raffle.

There will be plenty of things for kids to do, as there will also be children’s games and lucky dip.

Hungry visitors are also catered for, and can enjoy a barbecue and ice cream along with homemade cakes and plenty more refreshments.

Local organisations and charities will also be hosting a range of fund raising and information stalls on the day.

Organisers from the Little Gomersal Community Association say the day promises to be fun for all the family, with musical entertainment provided by the Clifton and Lightcliffe Brass Band.

For the younger ones, Crafty Devilz will be teaching circus skills to children young and old.

Spokeswoman for the organising committee, Joanne Catlow said: “The annual fair has grown in popularity over the last sixteen years and is always well supported by the local community.

“We are extremely grateful to all the staff at The Wheatsheaf Inn for their help and support to ensure that the event is a success.

“It always has a lovely village atmosphere and we look forward to past and new supporters joining us on the day.”
