Firefighters put on the grotto each year in the hope of spreading Christmas cheer. The event often runs at a loss, but thanks to more than 180 children visiting, and match funding and present donations from Barclays Bank, it is hoped it that hundreds of pounds will have been raised for local good causes.

Crew commander Dan Inman said: “It was a brilliant day and the children loved it. We couldn’t have done it without all the people who helped on the day, including staff from Barclays, so a big thank you goes to them.”
