Goodwin leads a cast of seven new signings as coach Glenn Morrison makes early plans for next season’s Kingstone Press Championship.

Godwin has completed a 13-year career in Super League, playing 241 games for Castleford Tigers, Wigan Warriors, Hull FC, Bradford Bulls and latterly with Salford City.

He was good friends with Morrison during their time with the Bulls, which has proved a great bargaining tool in bringing the Pontefract born 31-year-old to the Tetley’s Stadium.

Godwin scored 18 tries and landed 56 goals during 69 appearances for Castleford between 2001 and 2004, form which earned him three England caps.

He went on to play 52 times for Wigan, 19 in his one season at Hull, a further 43 during a two year spell at Bradford before featuring 58 times for the Reds.

Godwin has scored a total of 46 tries in 241 Super League games and his 56 goals for Cas gives him a total of 264 points.

Rams fans will hope he will significantly add to that tally in 2014.

Jobe Murphy was dual registered with the Rams from Bradford last season but has made the switch to Dewsbury permanent for next season.

Anthony Thackeray has joined Morrison’s revolution having switched from Halifax and another notable signing is Tom Hemingway from local rivals Batley Bulldogs.

The other three signings confirmed at the recent Rams fans forum are Louis Sheriff, Matthew Haggerty and Shaun Robinson.

The Rams have also been following the progress of Chris Aiton for some time and could be set to offer him a deal if visa issues can be overcome.
