Former Hartshead man Joel Pollard threatened to win it for Gomersal with a half-century but they finished on 199-9.

Promotion chasers Scholes ran up the highest score of the season as they made 343-4 on their way to a 228-run win at Windhill.

Overseas professional Atif Zaidi led the run spree with an unbeaten 122 which contained six sixes and 12 fours.

He was joined in an unbroken fifth-wicket stand of 123 by Joe Duffy (50no) as Scholes built on the opening partnership of 123 between Kasir Maroof (97) and Toby Thorpe (40).

Windhill were sent spinning to 115 all out by Danny Cross (5-38) and Mohammed Sharafat (3-17).

Scholes share second place with Baildon and are 10 points adrift of leaders Morley who beat struggling Idle by 138 runs after dismissing them for 101.

Former Baildon batsman Adal Islam ended up on the losing side despite making a superb 116 for Spen Victoria.

His innings contained a six and 19 fours, but he lacked support as overseas paceman Waqas Maqsood took 5-49 and Spen were bowled out for 228 before Baildon captain Simon Bailey guided his side to a five-wicket victory with 56.
