Big turn round sees Woodlands back on top after weather plays part in Premier title race
Woodlands are back on top of the Bradford Cricket League with just one week to go after a dramatic change of fortunes for the Premier Division title contenders.
A two-wicket success against Carlton lifted the Albert Terrace side to the top after rivals Townville saw their match against Pudsey Congs abandoned when they were in a strong position.
And Woodlands are now big favourites to make it a league and Priestley Cup double with their destiny in their own hands as they are three points ahead of Townville with bottom side Pudsey Congs to play in their final game next Saturday.
Woodlands had to endure a few nervy moments before they overcame Carlton who were kept to 185-9 from 40 overs with Brad Schmulian taking 3-38.

After a break for rain, a revised target of 201 from 40 overs was set and Muhammad Bilal was sent up the order to give the team a flying start with 48 from 26 balls, including four sixes, but wickets brought Carlton back into contention.
Woodlands slipped to 99-6 before Noah Priestley and Scott Richardson came together for a crucial seventh-wicket partnership.
Priestley made 48 and Richardson 32 then Elliot Richardson helped complete the job alongside skipper Cieran Garner.
Elsewhere in the Premier, Cleckheaton lost a rain affected game with Pudsey St Lawrence after making 178-7 from 32 overs, with Hisan Ahmad (67 from 75 balls) top scoring.
Set a revised target of 223, St Lawrence got home with four wickets to spare despite three wickets for Max Chappell.
Hanging Heaton clinched promotion to the Premier with a big 304-run victory over East Bierley.
Opener Bradley Wood led the way as they posted a formidable 361-8 from 40 overs, hitting 101 from only 73 balls, including five sixes and 10 fours. Myles Wood also smashed 90 from 60 balls, with nine fours and six sixes.
Bottom of the table Bierley were then blown away in only 11.5 overs as they were all out for 57 with Umar Farooq (5-33) and Upul Indrasiri (5-16) taking the wickets.
Batley are still in need of points to avoid relegation from Division One following a three-wicket defeat to Baildon when they were all out for 143, Khalid Hamidi (23) top scoring.
Although Baildon wobbled in their reply they had enough to reach their target. Hamidi was the pick of Batley’s bowlers with 4-47.
Gomersal's relegation from Division Two was confirmed after a 238-run defeat to Bowling Old Lane.
After Lane made 267-6 from 44 overs Gomersal were bowled out for just 29 with no-one able to reach double figures.
Hartshead Moor made sure the leading Division Two teams cannot relax as they beat Windhill & Daisy Hill by four wickets after dismissing them for 141.
Lewis Lomax (5-33) and Moin Hussain (3-39) did the damage before Moor knocked off the runs with Henry Crowhurst (54) top scoring.
