Dogs say thanks with visit

A PET store has donated £2,500 to help a charity look after needy dogs.

Pets At Home has given the money to TIA Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue. The charity, which helps dogs that have been neglected or abandoned, has been given the cash through the store’s Support Adoption For Pets scheme.

Manager of the store, in Railway Street, Dewsbury, Rob Helliwell said: “Pets At Home is all for charity and Support Adoption For Pets is really geared towards that.”

Amy Best fosters greyhounds for TIA. She took two-year-old Beth in to the shop to help collect the money raised on behalf of the charity.

TIA took in Beth as a stray two weeks before Christmas. The dog has gained weight since then, but is still five kg underweight.

Mrs Best said: “Based on her pedigree, Beth’s parents were top dogs, but for some reason she didn’t make the grade and was thrown out, and she was starving.”
