Spen Victoria to face Barnsley in Heavy Woollen Cup on Thursday

SPEN Victoria will take on Barnsley in a Twenty20 match this Thursday (June 7, 6pm) to determine who will progress to the Heavy Woollen Cup quarter-finals.

The sides have agreed to play a reduced overs game as the cup organisers aim to get the competition back on track after various matches were postponed due to poor weather.

All Heavy Woollen and Crowther Cup second round ties must be completed by this Sunday (June 10), with bowl outs a possibility should the rain intervene again.

Last season Spen caused a huge shock when they dumped Barnsley out of the Heavy Woollen Cup with a 55-run win, despite the South Yorkshire side including Yorkshire players Oliver Hannon Dalby, Azeem Rafiq and Gary Ballance in their side.
