Dewsbury Arcade independent retailers expand into bigger units after successful first two months of trading

Three independent retailers are already expanding into larger units inside The Arcade in Dewsbury, just two months after the historic Grade II-listed building re-opened.

The Arcade team says the moves follow “exceptional demand and trading success” and highlight “the growing footfall and revival of Dewsbury’s town centre, driven by community support for local, independent businesses”.

Tabletop gaming and hobby store NextDeck has more than tripled its trading space, moving from an initial 14.5 sq metres to a spacious 47.5 sq metre unit. The expansion allows Next Deck to expand retail stock, host larger community gaming tournaments and accommodate more players.

Following a surge of shoppers seeking boutique fashion, accessories and gifts, Apple Blossom Boutique has expanded from nine sq metres to 13 sq metres, offering more display room for new seasonal ranges.

Café Nūr by Meena Moo, a popular cafe and sweet treats destination, will upsize from 37.5 sq metres to 42.5 sq metres to expand seating capacity and cater to busy weekend crowds.

Jenny Holden-Stokes, Arcade manager, said: “To see three independent traders outgrow their spaces within just eight weeks of opening is a fantastic milestone for The Arcade and for Dewsbury as a whole.

“Our vision has always been to provide a thriving launchpad where independent businesses can establish themselves, build a loyal customer base, and scale up.

“The community’s enthusiastic response has proved that local high street enterprise is alive and thriving.”

The Arcade Dewsbury has become a destination for independent shopping, artisan crafts, workshops and dining beneath its iconic glazed roof.

Visitors can explore the newly expanded shops and discover the Arcade's range of independent businesses from Monday to Saturday.

With seven new businesses moving in before Christmas, Jenny said The Arcade has quickly established itself as a retail and community hub since opening in early September.
