Liversedge upped the ante in the Central Yorkshire League Division 1 promotion race thanks to a convincing victory over leaders Hopton Mills on Saturday.

Third-placed Liversedge stormed to a 114-run success to move them to within a point of near-neighbours Mills and the automatic promotion places.

Opener Alan Sumner anchored the home knock with a superb unbeaten 127 and he was well supported by Sean Wilson (47) and Mathew Gibson (33) as Liversedge batted first and made 252-5.

Andrew Grey took three wickets for the visitors, who struggled with the bat in reply. Tahmidul Ismal top-scored with 36 as the league leaders crumbled to just 138 all out thanks to some superb bowling from Nicholas Summerscales, Simon Kay and Nigel Doyle.
