Sky has said it will be writing to customers from 20 February 2020 in order to advise them of changes to their TV and broadband packages - here's what you need to know if you’re with the company.

Sky told Mirror Money that customers with Sky Entertainment and Broadband Essential will see their bills increase on 1 April 2020. They will be notifying affected customers of the changes by email or post between 20 February and 25 March.

What will go up in price?

Not all products are increasing, as Sky Cinema and Sky Kids will remain the same, and existing Sky Sports customers will see no increase - continuing to pay £23. Sky Broadband Superfast prices have also been frozen.

However those on the Sky Broadband Essential package will see their bills increase by £2, from £20 to £22. Sky Entertainment is also increasing by £2, from £22 to £24.

Why are fees increasing?

This is an inflation-linked hike, but it means that you will not be able to use it to escape your contract fee-free.

Ofcom explains that customers are allowed to leave early if their provider hikes prices mid-contract without initial warning, which is usually in the small print of your contract.
