The show starts at 8pm at the Service’s Birkenshaw headquarters on Bradford Road, with gates open from 6.30pm. Entry is £3 for adults and £2 for children.

It is the second year that the Fire Service have hosted a bonfire party, with last year’s spectacular event having raised £9,000 for the Firefighters Charity, which helps sick or injured personnel and their families. The same cause will be helped by this year’s display, with Parkinson’s UK also benefitting.

Sarah Goodall, one of the show’s organisers said: “This year’s event promises to be even bigger and better. What better way to celebrate the bonfire season than to come to a well organised event where the whole family can enjoy a fantastic event in safe surroundings.”

The recently released Red Hot Dates calendar, featuring the region’s firefighting hunks will also be on sale for £6.

Hartshead Moor Cricket Club will host a bonfire night on Saturday with the fire being lit at 6pm and fireworks starting at 8pm. For hungry stomachs, pie and peas will be available for tea.

Also on Saturday, Mirfield Showground will host the Mirfield Round Table bonfire and fireworks extravaganza. Gates open at 5.30pm, with the fire being lit at 6.30pm and fireworks beginning at 7pm. Proceeds will go to charity.
