Dewsbury-based business Kiddies Kingdom has made a generous donation to Rainbow Baby Bank in Heckmondwike.

The donation, which was arranged by Bespoke Beds of Oakwood, includes 25 cot mattresses and 25 cotbed mattresses which will be distributed by Rainbow Baby Bank to local families in need of support.

Rainbow Baby Bank was established in May 2019 and have been providing local families with packs containing items needed to look after babies. The donation of cot mattresses has been especially welcomed as they cannot be re-used, which means the charity often has to buy them using its own funds rather than through item donations from the public. Rainbow Baby Bank’s work in supporting local families was recognised last year when they were invited to Westminster to receive the Kids Count Inspiration Award after being nominated by Batley and Spen MP Tracy Brabin.

The donation has won praise from local MP Tracy Brabin, who was on hand to witness the donation being received on Friday 17th July alongside Mohammed Master of Kiddies Kingdom.

Commenting on the donation, Ms Brabin said “Rainbow Baby Bank do such vital work in our local community by helping so many families. I am so proud of them and how they have expanded as an organisation within the last year to help even more people. This donation of cot mattresses will help so many families at a time when many are struggling to make ends meet due to the impact of Covid-19, so I am incredibly thankful to Kiddies Kingdom and Bespoke Beds of Oakwood for their generosity. It's the perfect example of the community spirit that defines our area and shows that our local businesses are still doing all they can to support charities such as Rainbow Baby Bank.”

Rainbow Baby Bank volunteer Angela Surtees said “We are really thankful for this donation. So many families are going through financial difficulty and the support we provide is more vital than ever. Cot mattresses are unique in that they cannot be re-used so have to be bought brand new, which is why this donation will be a big help for us and so many local people.”
