Missing man could be camping in Dewsbury

Officers are urging James Stephenson, 40, to make contact and say they believe he was in Dewsbury this weekend. Dog walkers, joggers and ramblers are being warned to look out for him.

Timothy Fish, missing persons officer at South Yorkshire Police, said: “We are very concerned for James’ welfare and, if he sees this appeal, I would urge him to get in touch with us by calling 101.

“He is not in any trouble, we just want to confirm that he is safe and well. If he requires any assistance, again he should call police on 101.”

Mr Stephenson left the Cambian Oaks Hospital in Sheffield Road, Barnsley, at around 10.15am on March 18. He told staff he intended to go shopping in the Huddersfield area, but never returned.

The last confirmed sighting of him was last Wednesday, at a shop in Wakefield. He has ginger-coloured hair and is approximately 5ft 8ins tall. When last seen, he was wearing a dark overcoat with a grey hooded top underneath and jeans.

Anyone with any information on Mr Stephenson’s whereabouts should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 589 of 18 March 2014.
