Giant catch for Chris Kamara’s son

AN AMATEUR angler landed the catch of a lifetime when he reeled in a colossal carp.

Jack Kamara, son of Sky Sports pundit Chris_Kamara became the talk of fishing forums after a friend posted pictures online of his 33lb 4oz catch.

Previously know as The Lady, the carp was released into LadyWood Lakes

in Mirfield last year with the promise that she would bear the surname of the first person to catch her.

But until last Wednesday, she had eluded all anglers’ attempts to net her.

Jack, 24, said: “It was just getting dark and I had put two of my lines away.

“As I was packing up, the other rod started going. It took 20 minutes to get her in the net.

“As soon as we realised it was big, we rang the fishery manager.”

And true to their word, the lake owners have now renamed the carp The Lady Kamara.

Jack, who lives near Wakefield, said: “I’ve only been fishing since April last year. People can fish all their lives and not catch one like that so I’ve been quite lucky really.

“My dad put a photo up on his Twitter account and it’s got lots of people talking. There’s a forum for carp fisherman and more than 1,500 people have viewed it there. It’s had some great feedback.”
