New outdoor padel court opens in Batley
A new outdoor padel court has opened at Batley Sports and Tennis Centre.
The court will operate under the We Do Padel brand and is part of a 12-month trial between them and Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL).

We Do Padel is the padel brand of We Do Tennis CIC, a community-focused, not-for-profit company working with partners and local communities to create more opportunities for people to be active through racket sports.
We Do Tennis CIC already operates the existing tennis facilities at the sports centre, with the new padel court, which opened on Saturday, October 10, complementing the established tennis offer and giving local people another way to enjoy racket sports.
Matt Whitaker, director of We Do Padel, said: “We’re delighted to be working with KAL to bring outdoor padel to Batley. We Do Tennis CIC already operates the tennis facilities at the centre, so bringing padel here is a natural extension of what we already offer.
“The response since opening has been really encouraging. It’s been great to see how many people have already booked, with both existing racket-sport players and people trying padel for the first time getting on court.
“As a community-focused, not-for-profit company, our aim is to create welcoming, sustainable opportunities for more people to get active. The 12-month trial gives us a great chance to understand the level of interest in padel locally and what the potential could be at other KAL venues.
“Padel is a really accessible and sociable sport, and we’re looking forward to seeing the Batley padel community continue to grow over the coming months.”

Padel, which is one of the UK’s fastest-growing racket sports, is typically played as doubles on an enclosed court, with the walls forming part of the game and is suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities.
