Wardlaw steps up World Cup preparations

Cleckheaton fast bowler Iain Wardlaw is stepping up his preparations for the Cricket World Cup, to be held in Australia and New Zealand next month.

Wardlaw is part of a 16-man Scotland squad, who are in United Arab Emirates to play four One Day Internationals against Afghanistan and Ireland.

Wardlaw did not play in Scotland’s opening game against Afghanistan yesterday (Thursday) but will be hoping to feature in a day/night match against Ireland in Dubai on Monday.

The Saltires play a second game against Afghanistan, in Abu Dhabi, next Wednesday and end the tour against Ireland on January 19.

Wardlaw is aiming to be part of the Scotland team, who begin their World Cup campaign against New Zealand in Dunedin on February 17.
