Liversedge FC is ‘important part of community life’ says Spen Valley MP
Liversedge Football Club has been hailed as an “important part of community life” after the MP for Spen Valley, Kim Leadbeater, paid a visit to Clayborn.
The sports-loving MP visited Liversedge FC to celebrate the club’s strong progress both on and off the pitch, as the club continues its impressive campaign in the Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division.

Kim met with players, coaches, officials and volunteers during the visit, hearing about the club’s ambitions and the work that goes into running a successful non-league football outfit.
With Liversedge currently riding high towards the top of the league, the visit also highlighted the growing profile of the club and the importance of backing clubs that are making a real contribution both to their local communities.
Kim said: “It was fantastic to visit Liversedge FC, right here in the heart of my Spen Valley constituency, and to see the club going from strength to strength.
“Liversedge are doing really well in the NPL East Division, and that success is something the whole local community can be proud of.
“But what impressed me just as much was seeing the people behind the club and the huge amount of work that goes into making it such an important part of community life.
“Grassroots and non-league football clubs are incredibly important. They bring people together, create opportunities for players and volunteers and give communities something to rally around.

“It was great to hear about Liversedge’s ambitions for the future, including the development of the women and junior teams, and to see how support from Pitching In can help clubs like
this continue to develop and thrive.”
The visit was supported by Pitching In, which works with clubs across the non-league game and helps shine a light on the vital contribution they make to their local communities.
