Batley business takes on The Big Golf Race for Prostate Cancer UK

Staff at ASG Fabrications are taking on the golf challenge which will consist of playing four rounds of golf, back to back, without the use of buggies - with the aim of finishing at 10pm the same day.

The challenge will take place on Wednesday, June 22, at Willow Valley Golf Club in Brighouse, with a target of raising more than £2,000 for Prostate Cancer UK.

Willow Valley has generously waived all green fees for the day to allow the company to put every penny possibly towards the fundraiser.

The money raised by this challenge will help fund research into life-saving treatments for prostate cancer and provide practical support to men and their families.

Craig Middleton, business development manager at ASG Fabrications, said: “We decided to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK because it is a charity that is quite close to us here at ASG.

“We all like golf and it's a sport I enjoy playing. I actually did this challenge about six years ago for Macmillan Cancer.

“Prostate Cancer UK runs this event annually and we wanted to join in and help.

“With offline donations added, we have raised just over £1,500 of our £2,000 target - we are nearly there.

“We are really pleased with the response we have had in such a short space of time.

“A massive thank you, it's a tough time for everyone and not everyone has spare money to be giving - this just shows the community spirit that everyone has.

“We hope to reach our target, if not by the challenge then by the time the fundraiser ends, which is December and we will continue to raise money up until then.”

Founded in 1996, Prostate Cancer UK is a prostate cancer research, awareness and support organisation which is a registered charity in England, Wales and Scotland.

The charity invests millions into finding better treatment and tests to help save thousands of lives.
