Gas leak to close two lanes at Tingley roundabout

Essential road works will take place on Tingley Roundabout after a gas leak was discovered underneath it.

Two of four lanes will be closed in the first stages of the work, which will start on Sunday and last for around a week.

A Northern Gas Networks spokeswoman said: “We’ve worked closely with Leeds City Council to carefully plan this essential work during the school holidays, in order to minimise disruption to road users.

“So our engineers can complete the work as safely and as quickly as possible, some traffic management measures will be necessary, and we will be using on-site signage to advise motorists of this.

“Two of the four lanes at the roundabout will be temporarily closed at first, but drivers will then be able to use three lanes after initial works are completed.

“We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused, but thank our customers for their patience and understanding.”

Work to fix the leak will be carried out while a £70,000 project at Hesketh Lane, Tingley, is also underway.

The road will be closed from the junction of Dewsbury Road from Monday until August 22.
