Nick is the Yorkshire Evening Post's court reporter. Originally from Stockton-on-Tees, he has more than 20 years' experience as a journalist.

Having obtained a degree in linguistics and literature from St John's University in York in the late 1990s, he spent his summers as a work-experience student at the Teesside Evening Gazette. Enrolling on the National Council for the Training of Journalists' (NCTJ) course in neighbouring Darlington in 2002, he completed the fast-track course and landed a news reporter role at the small weekly title, Pocklington Post, in East Yorkshire. He was named the Yorkshire Regional Newspapers' reporter of the year in 2008.

Since then he has worked as a news reporter for Matlock Mercury in Derbyshire and the Mansfield Chad in Nottinghamshire, before moving back to Yorkshire in 2016 to work on the Wakefield Express and Pontefract and Castleford Express.

He became the court reporter for the Yorkshire Evening Post in August 2022, tasked with covering inquests at Wakefield Coroner's Court as well as cases at Leeds Magistrates' Court and, primarily, Leeds Crown Court. This includes covering everything from breaches of court orders through to high-profile murder trials. Notably, Nick provided extensive coverage of the London trial of Imran Ahmad Khan, the former Wakefield MP who was jailed in 2022 for a historic sexual assault.
