‘Future is bright’ for Dewsbury Rams despite ‘disappointment’ of not making play-offs
Paul March has insisted the “future is bright” for Dewsbury Rams despite his side narrowly failing on their end-of-season target of making the play-offs.
Dewsbury finished the Championship season in 11th, one place and six points outside of the play-offs, after claiming just one win from their final 11 games after a promising start to the campaign.

The Rams can now only watch on as the top ten do battle over the next five weeks to determine the Grand Final winner.
Asked for his thoughts on his side’s 2026 season, March told the Reporter Series:
“Mixed really. I thought we started the season really well and it was good to get some points on the board, but then after ten games we didn’t play as well as we did in the early part of the season and confidence was low.
“It was pleasing that we came 11th, as that is an improvement from last year in League 1 if you split the division into two but, obviously, I am disappointed that we didn’t reach our goal of making the play-offs.
“I am gutted as we want to play in big games. We have a young side who is learning every week. People are leaving but new players will come in, and we also have the partnership with Huddersfield Giants which will blossom.
“The future is bright for us but we are disappointed that we are not preparing for a play-off game this weekend.”
March confirmed that 14 players are already contracted for next year, including Jacob Parkinson who has extended his stay at FLAIR Stadium and Finnley Thompson who will be joining from Bradford Bulls.
“Hopefully the partnership with Huddersfield will then bring us another five in so there is strength in the squad,” March revealed.
“Ideally we could do with an experienced middle to help Danny Addy as well as to help these youngsters out. We are also looking at a half-back.
“It is about finding the right people for the right money. We are confident that we can find someone, it is a matter of getting them over the line when we do find them.”
