The Wrestling For A Hero fundraiser will take place at the UKW Arena, on Branch Road, on Saturday, June 6.

The event will see around 20 wrestlers take to the ring to help raise money for a one-year-old boy, Eliyas, whose only treatment for a rare condition is a specialised programme in Chicago, in America.

Organiser Mandeep Sehmi said: “The wrestlers are stepping into the ring for a very special reason and it should be an incredible night of wrestling.

“Every penny brings Eliyas one step closer to the treatment he deserves. We are now looking for high-quality raffle prizes to help boost our fundraising total.

“If anybody can donate a prize that would be greatly appreciated. We are looking for decent stuff to get bums on seats.”

Thanking UKW, Mandeep, who has been involved with martial arts for 38 years and is hosting the special event, said:

“It is storyline based and we want to make it as entertaining as we can. It is a professional 20 foot wrestling ring, in a professional environment at UKW, and they didn’t even hesitate to help.

“They are brilliant and I can’t thank them enough for letting us have the venue.”
