Woodman fire 10 in Wheatley win

WOODMAN were the top scorers in last Saturday’s Wheatley Cup second round as they thrashed Inter Batley 10-0.

John McNamara and James Goodall both hit four goals while James Blaine and Gary Flowers completed the home side’s tally.

Aiden Schofield fired a hat-trick as Littletown powered to a 9-1 success over Ravensthorpe Rangers (Javed Patel).

Lee McKeown and Danny Scott both scored twice for the hosts who also had Kevin Blanchard and Richard Newman on target.

Scott Hargreaves also hit four goals as Thornhill eased through 7-1 at Howden Clough. Jamie Beever (two) and Nathan Kemp also struck for the victors.

Another Wakefield League Premier side to progress was Wilton who won 8-2 at Heckmondwike GS.

Sean Housecroft fired a hat-trick while Shaun McDaid (two), Kyle Halloran (two) and an own goal sealed Wilton’s success. Christian Webster bagged a brace for the hosts.

Holders Gildersome Spurs secured a narrow 4-3 home win over Hartshead (Neil Dillon brace and Paul Fearn) thanks to Shaun Unsworth (two), Ben Keedy and an own goal.

Victory for the Yorkshire Old Boys League team over their West Yorkshire League rivals saw Spurs through to the last 16 where they are one of six teams from the Morley area.

Goals from Iain McGowan and Steven Chew saw Morley C&SC to a 2-1 home victory over Savile Town (Mohammad Makda) while Drighlington Malt Shovel eased to a 4-0 triumph over Thornhill United thanks to Dave Clarke, Dalton Pearson, Adam Wells and Ashley Wells.

David Jackson, Matthew Ibbotson, Ryan Hartley, Carl Barstow, Tom Smith and Dan Makin scored as Halfway House Morley won 6-4 at Old Bank WMC, who had Andrew Asquith (two), Christopher Walton and Ashley March on target.

Morley Town eased to a 6-1 success at Quarry (own goal). Strikes from Scott Horner, Andrew Punter and David Walker saw Morley lead 3-0 at the break before they wrapped up victory with goals by Horner, Gareth Lewis and James Edwards.

Ryan Gillan (two), Ross Render, Gavin Huxall, Jason Calcutt and Daniel Barton saw Tingley Athletic to a 6-4 home triumph over WR County Amateur League rivals Overthorpe SC (Dave Hall brace, Steven Jordan and Liam Bradford).

Tom Smith’s goal saw Hunsworth beat Marsh 1-0 and Dewsbury Rangers cruised through 8-3 at home to Oakwell thanks to Mikey Thompson (hat-trick), Tom Lund (two), Connor Wilson, Mike Bell and Lamin Bojang.

Chris Smith (two) and Jonathan Brundred saw Ossett Common Rovers edge out visitors Batelians (Joe Jagger brace) 3-2 while goals from Elliott Williams and Leigh Evans gave Heckmondwike Town a 2-0 home victory over Park Earlsheaton.
