Who would be in your dream cricket team?

two members of Cleckheaton CC have created a good deal of interest in local cricketing circles by organising a Dream Team competition for the forthcoming season.

Richard Whitehurst, who has joined Cleckheaton from Gomersal, came up with the idea and with technical help from Chris Dobson, they have put together a competition, which will run throughout the summer on the club’s website.

Players from all Bradford League clubs are split into sections, such as opening batsman, bowlers, spinners and wicketkeepers and you pick your favourite 11 players.

Points are awarded when a player takes wickets, scores runs, or makes catches and while it is free for anyone to enter, the organisers have secured sponsorship from Stanley Cars in Bradford to ensure there will be a first prize of £250.

Among the most popular players to be picked so far are East Bierley’s Luke Jarvis, Woodlands captain Pieter Swanepoel and Cleckheaton wicketkeeper/batsman Mally Nicholson.

Anyone can enter a Dream Team before the start of play next Saturday (April 21).
