His 24 international wickets since his debut in 2013, is the second-highest from any of the world’s debutant players, behind Indian Test star Mohammed Shami’s 32.

Wardlaw has capped a magnificent 12 months by helping Scotland qualify for next year’s ICC World Cup in Australia.

His performances have helped Scotland to a top-two finish in the qualifying tournament in New Zealand.

Wardlaw claimed the vital wicket of Alex Obanda as Scotland defeated Kenya by three wickets on Thursday to book their place in next year’s World Cup.

He also claimed 1-47 from seven overs in Tuesday’s game against Papua New Guinea having previously picked up 2-30 in Scotland’s 170-run win over Canada last Thursday, to book a place in the Super Six stage of the tournament.

Wardlaw will also hope to figure in the tournament final against UAE tomorrow.

Wardlaw also played a key role in helping Cleckheaton clinch a first Bradford League Division One title last summer.
