Vic U12s cup glory

BIRSTALL Victoria Under-12s became the first junior side from the club to lift a major trophy when they earned an impressive 40-4 victory against York Acorn in the Yorkshire Junior League Continuation Cup final.

Stand-off Matty Ward took the MoM award after a quality display that included four tries. He was well supported by props Matthew Goodwill and Kane Bedford with the latter crossing for a try after a bulldozing run.

Owen West made some copybook tackles, Zak Knowles and Jordan Yates were fearless in defence and Callum Roberts was outstanding at full-back.

Jacob Fozard scored two length of the field tries while wingers James Colleran and Oran Walton were in top form, with Jake Dye and Jake Butterfield having their best games of the season.

Ashan Newell scored his first try for the club after a great 30-metre break. Mark Senior and Aaron Clough also shone while Alex Hollingworth was in tremendous form producing some big hits and gaining valuable yards.

Morgan Senior was lively at scrum-half and Alex Stockwell also showed his paces as Birstall pressed home their advantage. Captain Bradley Saville led by example from hooker with some great dummy half play.

Roberts completed the scoring with four conversions. This was the best team performance of the whole season bringing the cup back to Birstall.
