Usman stars in Ossett's Trophy win

Ossett secured a convincing 137-run victory over Buttershaw St Pauls as they won the Jack Hampshire Trophy on home soil last Sunday.

Khalid Usman proved Ossett’s match winner with a superb all-round display.

Usman top scored with 64 from 39 balls as Ossett made 230-7 in their 40 overs after being put in to bat.

Usman followed up by producing a devastating spell of 6-10 which triggered a Buttershaw collapse which saw them bowled out for 93,

Usman’s first victim was St Paul’s top scorer Gary Wainwright (31) as the Conference side lost their last seven wicket for 39 runs.

Ossett openers Harvey Anderson (41) and Imran Patel (34) set the tone with a stand of 78 before Usman stepped up the tempo as he hit two sixes and five fours to put his side on course for victory.

The Wheatley Cup second team final takes place this Sunday when Liversedge meet Northowram Fields at Wrenthorpe (start noon).
