Trojans U9s triumph at Rhinos Festival Trophy

The Trojans met West Bowling in the final and a closely contested clash was watched by a large crowd.

Strong running came from Mason Haigh, Alfie Howley, Charlie Blacka and Tom Metcalfe, while Ethan Purcell and William Lister showed good pace, with Bailey Hargreaves showing good distribution to set up a hat-trick of tries for Tyler Jowitt.

Moment of the match was a brilliant try-saving tackle from Toby Lumb which secured victory for the Trojans.

Ex-professional Robin Jowitt, the Under-9s coach, thanked Thornhill Poor’s Estate Charity, Mullaco Foods and several local businesses for their support in helping assist the children to compete at the tournament.

Ethan Richardson, Joshua White, Thomas Sykes, Mason Johnson-France and Lewis Bates were solid in defence as Thornhill Under-8s met Shaw Cross Sharks.

Harry Clarke won 100 per cent effort in his first game for the team, while magic moment went to Bailey Bennett for scoring the only Trojans try.

Top tackler was Rhian Llewellyn, while Jack Dunford scooped parents player of the match, MoM and opposition MoM.
