Trojans to face holders in Yorkshire Cup semi-finals

The Trojans marched into the last four after an 18-12 home win over Moorends Thorne Marauders last week and will now be aiming to cause a major upset and reach the showpiece final, which is set to be played over the Christmas holidays on a professional ground.

The other semi-final will see Hunslet Old Boys at home to Sharlston Rovers.

Thornhill, who have won all six games in Pennine League Division Two this time, embark on another cup run tomorrow when they entertain Boothtown Terriers in the first round of the Andrew Bennett Memorial Trophy (kick-off 2pm).

Dewsbury Moor welcome local rivals Birstall Victoria to Heckmondwike Road for what should be a tasty Pennine President’s Cup first round tie (2pm).

Moor have been in great form this season and lie second in the Championship Division with seven wins from their eight matches.

They trail leaders Halifax Irish by four points with a game in hand and go into tomorrow’s cup tie on the back of a 32-14 victory at Westgate Wolves last week.

Dewsbury Moor A are at home to West Craven Warriors A in the Supplementary Cup first round.

Hanging Heaton will be aiming for a ninth straight league victory when the Pennine Division Six leaders travel to mid-table Odsal Sedburgh A (2pm).

n Eight sides have entered this season’s Heavy Woollen ARL Jim Brown Cup, with the first round scheduled to be played on November 26 (2pm).

Dewsbury Celtic are at home to Hanging Heaton, Dewsbury Moor host Shaw Cross Sharks, while there promises to be a mouthwatering derby at Halifax Road, Staincliffe, when Batley Boys entertain Birstall Victoria.

The other tie sees Ossett Trinity hosting Thornhill Trojans at Church Street but that game may have to be re-arranged due to the Yorkshire Cup.

The losers of the four ties will compete for the John Kane Cup.
