Martin Robinson opened the scoring before Tom Jenkinson scored the first of his hat-trick, converted by Tom Ratcliffe, as Scarborough led 10-0.

Mindugas Bendikas set up Thornhill’s first try for Adam Bird, which Brad Schofield converted, but Jenkinson’s second, improved by Tom Ratcliffe put Scarborough 16-6 up at half-time.

Trojans Anthony Harris and Scarborough’s Nathan Hakings traded tries.

Harris charged over for his second, only for Jenkinson to complete his hat-trick before tempers boiled over and ugly scenes materialised as three separate fights broke out simultaneously and there were further small altercations.

Tom Ratcliffe scored an interception try, which he converted and although Jake Hickling and Bendikas replied for Thornhill, it not enough to prevent a first defeat of the summer season.

Man-of-the-match was Bret Simmonds, with support coming from Danny Ratcliffe and Anthony Harris but Thornhill were left with too much to do.

The Woodman Inn is holding a reunion for past Hanging Heaton and Earlsheaton amateur rugby league players.

The reunion will take place this Friday (June 28) from approximately 6.30pm onwards.
