Thornhill Trojans and Shaw Cross Sharks face away ties in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup first round.

The Sharks’ tie was first out of the hat in the draw made this afternoon (Thursday) and they face a trip to the capital to face London Chargers RL.

Thornhill travel to Humberside to take on Hull Dockers.

There was confusion at the draw when East Leeds were drawn out twice and Stanningley not at all.

The mistake was quickly cleared up with Stanningley to face Pilkington Recs and East Leeds at home to Oulton Raiders.

One of the other intriguing ties sees Northumbria University facing a 250-mile trip to play Aberdeen Warriors.

First round draw (to be played January 30 and 31): London Chargers v Shaw Cross Sharks, Thatto Heath v Hunslet Club Parkside, Stanningley v Pilkinton Recs, Normanton Knights v Distington, The Army v Siddal, West Bowling v Lock Lane, Leigh Miners Rangers v Underbank Rangers, East Leeds v Oulton Raiders, Millom v University of Hull, Royal Navy v Featherstone Lions, Widnes West Bank v Rochdale Mayfield, Wath Brow Hornets v Royal Air Force, Hull Dockers v Thornhill Trojans, Egremont Rangers v Bridgend Blue Bulls, West Hull v Great Britain Police, Kells v Normanton Knights, York Acorn v Sharlston Rovers.

Sponsors Ladbrokes have installed Wigan Warriors as 10/3 favourites to win the competition.

Dewsbury Rams and Batley Bulldogs are both 1,000/1 shots, while local amateurs Shaw Cross Sharks and Thornhill Trojans have been priced at 10,000/1 outsiders.
