Title triumph for Wheelwright

Wheelwright were crowned Yorkshire Amateur League Division Five champions last Saturday after a 3-0 home win over Ealandians Thirds.

They won the title with four games to spare and will now aim to maintain their undefeated record.

A tight first half saw defences on top while Wheelwright goalkeeper Sam Jackson made three saves, including a fine block low down.

Wheelwright managed to carve out a couple of half chances for Lee Whitaker and Mike Davies but they knew they needed to up their game.

A formation tweak paid dividends as soon after the break a crossfield ball found Harrison who fired home under the goalkeeper.

The goal lifted Wheelwright and a flowing move ended with Robinson cutting the ball back for Andy Barrett to score. Just after the hour mark it was three as Robinson got on the scoresheet.

Wheelwright were wary after a late treble by their opponents earlier in the season but there was no repeat and Davies went close in the final minutes
