Thirsty Man lead race

THIRSTY Man remain top of HW League Division One following Tuesday’s 6-3 victory over Howden Clough.

Thirsty Man are three points clear of New Inn Staincliffe, who must beat Oakwell Motel by 15 goals in their final game to overhaul the leaders.

New Inn remained in the title hunt last Sunday by hammering struggling Howden Clough 9-1.

Battyeford are also in the hunt, lying third, five points behind Thirsty Man with three games remaining after Joe Green and Danny Hickling (two each), Richard Newman, Tom Hague and James Sweeney scored in a 7-2 win over bottom side Bay Horse East Ardsley (Kevon Nelson and James Turl) last Sunday.

The only other game in the division last Sunday was a 12 goal thriller as Scholes Athletic and Oakwell shared the points in a 6-6 draw. Jonny Irvine and Craig Wood each netted twice for Scholes, who also scored through Danny Phillips and an own goal.

Ben McCann and Nathan Hallas hit two each for Oakwell, with Johnny Beverley and Ricky John also on target.
