Due to the demand from the public, the ticket office at Headingley will be open until 7pm every night this week as the exploits of Alastair Cook’s men and the opportunity to watch Yorkshire’s Joe Root play his first Test Match on his home ground captures the imagination of the sporting public.

Tickets start from £30 adults and with the interest mounting ahead of the opening day on Friday, club officials are urging fans to book early to ensure they reserve their seat.

“Ticket sales have accelerated following England’s victory at Lord’s,” said Yorkshire’s commercial director Andy Dawson.

“We have had tremendous interest from the public and we anticipate interest to continue for the rest of this week. Tickets for the first two days, Friday and Saturday, are the most popular and certain areas of the ground are close to selling out.
