The junior tournament was won by 15-year-old Sam Gaunt who beat Sam Clarke, 14, in a dramatic final which saw the players take a set each 3-6, 5-4 before Gaunt clinched the championship in a tie break 10 points to 8.

Kashmir Indian restaurant owner Maf - a key sponsor of the club - was on hand with his children to present the medals. Head coach Carrie Wagstaff organised the event and was assisted with scoring on court by Juniors Sam Gaunt, Sam Clarke and Chris Langton.

The junior tournaments bring the season to a close early to allow work to begin on two new courts and floodlights.

The improvements for the club come following a successful grant application to the Yorkshire Lawn Tennis Association.
