Sykes fans to see extra bout at Prizefighter

GARY Sykes boxing fans who have bought tickets for next month’s sell-out Prizefighter tournament in Liverpool will have the chance to see an extra bout.

As well as the eight-man knock-out tournament, which will see Sykes come up against the likes of Manchester’s Anthony Crolla and Liverpool’s Derry Mathews, fans will now get the chance to see Rocky Fielding against Carl Dilks for the vacant English title.

Fielding was already on the Prizefighter bill in his home city but he will now fight for the English super middleweight crown.

A former sparring partner of Sykes, Tommy Coyle, from Hull, became the eighth and final boxer added to the Prizefighter tournament, which also includes Halifax’s Liam Patrick Walsh.

Sykes, who will move up to lightweight for the tournament, fought on the same bill as unbeaten Coyle in March when the Humberside man won the Central Area title.
