Woodlands maintained their lead at the top of JCT600 Bradford League Division One thanks to another wonderful innings from Sarfraz Ahmed.

The league’s longest serving player has produced many memorable knocks during his 13 years at Woodlands and last Saturday’s against Pudsey St Lawrence was another to add to the growing list.

Sarfraz hammered six sixes and a four as he raced to 48 from 24 balls, sharing a 77-run stand with Pieter Swanepoel (39).

The stand helped Woodlands recover from 127-7 to close on 205-9 and seemed to knock the stuffing out of Lawrence, who were dismissed for 117 with Swanepoel claiming 3-30.

Second played Cleckheaton remain 24 points behind Woodlands after they recorded a 47-run win over Saltaire.

Ian Nicholson (66), captain John Wood (41) and Mally Nicholson (38) helped Cleckheaton reach 207-7 before Wood (3-17) and James Lee (3-61) helped dismiss Saltaire for 160.

Hanging Heaton defeated East Bierley by 57 runs as Mark Lawson (69) and Gary Fellows (34) helped the visitors to 214 despite Abbas claiming 5-35.

Andrew Rennison (42) and Tabbi Bhatti (40) led Bierley’s reply but they were bowled out for 157 as David Stiff claimed 5-42.

Gomersal suffered a 37-run defeat to Division Two leaders Farsley.

Ashley Metcalfe became only the second player to reach 16,000 Bradford League runs but it was 108 not out from Mark Harrison that guided Farsley to 220-7.

Richard Gould (44) and Andy Gorrod (32) led the Gomersal reply but they were restricted to 183-9 as Harrison claimed 4-50.

Adnan Raza Ali (3-53) and Martin Riley (3-36) helped Hartshead Moor dismiss Keighley for 182 but although Ali (39) also top scored, the home side were bowled out for 134 in reply.
