St John Fisher on FA Cup trail

ST JOHN Fisher OB bid for national glory this Sunday when they face Liverpool side Oak Tree Pub in the first round of the FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup.

It is the first time Heavy Woollen Sunday League Premier champions Fisher have entered the competition and although they have been drawn at home, the game must be played on a semi-professional club’s ground, so they will use Liversedge FC’s Clayborn.

The game will kick off at 2pm, allowing time for their opponents to get over from Merseyside, but this should also allow time for local Sunday League players from the Heavy Woollen to get to Liversedge.

Last year’s final was played at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light and the showpiece will again be held at a Premiership club’s ground.

St John Fisher must help with Oak Tree’s travelling expenses, so there will be a £3 admission on the gate.
